[cdn_abolition] Season's Greetings

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone the best of the 
season and a health and prosperous New Year.

It has been an interesting year for the Abolition movement. On the one 
hand we have had the horror of 1,000 executions and the Tookie Williams 
murder. But on the other hand the Death Penalty has never had such a 
high profile in the USA, and there seems to be growing concern and 
revulsion on the part of the public. Even some elected official and are 
speaking out against it. It is my feeling that the momentum is 
definitely on our side, and I think 2006 could be a breakthrough year.

The other interesting thing to note is that Steven Harper and the 
Conservatives have not raised the issue during this election campaign as 
far as i know. Hopefully they have come to realize that it is just not 
an option for Canada.
