HOUSING UPDATE

After an exhaustive search of potential activist friendly locations
in proximity to the court, we abandoned that idea and now suggest the
following options:

#1 - Free housing with DC area activists.

(IF YOU CAN OFFER HOUSING IN THE DC AREA TO ACTIVISTS TRAVELING FROM
AFAR, PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE TO <abe at cuadp.org>)

We are seeking offers from local activists and supporters willing to
open their homes to activists traveling to the Fast & Vigil. We are
doing our best to find people who live within walking distance of the
court, but this option will likely require either driving or taking
the metro. If you would like to stay with a local
activist/supporter, please send an e-mail to <aac at abolition.org> or
call 800-973-6548 with the following information: Your name, e-mail,
cell phone or other phone, the nights (dates) you will be with us,
whether you will have a car, if you have any special needs, if you
are a smoker, and how many people you are coming with who would stay
in the same place. We will do our best to find you a decent place to
stay, and to confirm same as soon as possible.

#2 - The Washington DC International Hostel. Visit
http://www.hiwashingtondc.org/ for full details. The International
Hostel offers dorm style accommodations a short metro ride from the
court, or about 30 minutes walking. Rooms are $32/night, and less if
you are a member. We have no special relations with the
International Hostel - please contact them directly. As of June 5,
they had plenty of room.

#3 - Stay in a local hotel. Some suggestions are
here: http://www.abolition.org/starvin13housing.html#hotels

SPECIAL NOTE: Abe & Beth have arranged for a special rate of
$119/night at the Hyatt on Capitol Hill (a 12 minute walk from the
court) for their wedding guests. Our contract deadline is passed,
but the rate is available as long as rooms are available. If this
interests you, call 800-233-1234 and book a room for the Hyatt
Regency Washington on Capitol Hill and tell them you are coming for
the Bonowitz/Wood wedding. They'll tell you the special rate is sold
out. Just book the room anyway, then e-mail your name and
confirmation number to <abe at cuadp.org> and I'll get the rate changed
to $119/night plus tax, etc. If you want to share a room with
others, send Abe a note and he'll help pair you up.

BACKGROUND

The Fast & Vigil takes place on the sidewalk in
front of the U.S. Supreme Court, considered by
many to be the heart of the legalized killing
machines in this country. In addition to the
strong public witness, this is an excellent
opportunity to meet other abolitionists and to
"recharge your batteries" while engaging in
public outreach and maintaining a physical
presence at the Court. ***FASTING IS OPTIONAL***

BOTTOM LINE, this is a great experience and
training ground for people who want to learn more
about this issue and to become very adept at talking about the dp.

Prisoners, activists from other countries, and
abolitionists who are unable to come to
Washington, D.C. have fasted or held events in
solidarity with the action at the Court. This
tradition continues to grow as well - those who
participate in solidarity are asked to
communicate details of their actions and contact
information to the Fast & Vigil organizers.
