STAY!!! 90 day stay for Troy Davis of Georgia.

A brief statement has just been posted to the Georgia Board of Pardons
and Paroles website here.
http://www.pap.state.ga.us/opencms/export/sites/default/index.html?page=index.html.

In entirety:

Today the State Board of Pardons and Paroles met to hear a clemency
request from the attorneys representing condemned inmate Troy Anthony
Davis. After considering the request, the Board voted to grant a stay
not to exceed 90 days, for the purpose of evaluating and analyzing the
evidence provided during the Board appointment.

Friends,

I was packing banners in the FADP truck for the drive to Georgia when I
got the news. Martina Correia is Troys's sister. I have worked with
her for years. She is Georgia State Death Penalty Abolitionist for
Amnesty International. She is also a driving force behind Georgians
for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, GFADP.org. I greatly admire
her. She is the daughter of a sheriff's deputy, an army veteran,
single mom with a teenage son, engaged to a police officer and is
battling metastatic breast cancer. She is a sincere and classy lady.
For 15 years, Martina has been fighting to get to the truth about her
brother's case and for the state of Georgia to grant him a new trial.
She has worked tirelessly to end executions everywhere. Give a listen
to her interview with Amy Goodman and you will see why FADP was headed
to Georgia to give our support.

case, please see

Thanks again to all who have written the Georgia Board of Pardon and
Parole. There will likely be a new action coming up soon. Stay tuned.

FADP will be at the Lightbourne hearings in Ocala this week.

Shine the light,

---Mark
