Friends,
There will be vigils across Florida for the scheduled July 1st
execution. Please call or write Gov. Charlie Crist and let him know
your views on the Death Penalty. Ask him NOT to sign Death Warrants.
Your opinion will be counted. You may get a written response that the
Governor is merely performing the duties of his office and suggesting
that you contact your local representative to change existing law.
This is helpful in the long term and is our goal. However, the
Governor has the immediate authority to decide whether or not to sign
Death Warrants for those prisoners said by the state to be "Death
Eligible" or "Ripe" (no working legal appeals). Governor Crist can
sign a dozen Death Warrants or none. It is his decision. Tell him
what YOU think. For a downloadable copy of the Florida DP Factsheet,
go to: http://www.fadp.org/FL_factsheet.pdf.

VICTIMS FAMILIES SEEK JUSTICE, NOT EXECUTION - VIERA - JUNE 11
Murder Victim's Families for Reconciliation (MVFR) board member,
Juanita Perez, along with family and friends, will be conducting a
vigil at the Brevard County Courthouse Extension in Viera, FL on
Tuesday, June 11 at 9 AM. Two years ago, Juanita lost her son,
Benjamin, his wife Sarah and their 5-year old daughter, Ivory, to
murder. The accused has offered to plead guilty in exchange for a
sentence of Life W/O the Possibility of Parole, but the State Attorney
wants to pursue the Death Penalty in this high profile case. Juanita
and most of her family are seeking an end to the killing madness which
she says will only perpetuate the suffering of all the families
involved. Please join her.
The Brevard County Courthouse extension is located at 2725 Judge Fran
Jamieson Way, Viera, FL. (321) 637-2000. Viera is located off I95 near
Titusville. Call me if you need directions.

in each year’s General Assembly, with a thought-provoking speaker and a
booth in the exhibit hall. It is an opportunity for UU activists for
ending the death penalty to make connections with each other and obtain
resources for use in their congregations and home communities.

Juanita Perez of Murder Victim's Families for Reconciliation (MVFR),
Amy Jo Smith and other UUADP volunteers. The Exhibit Hall will be OPEN
